VANITIES 3 egg yolks 2 whole eggs 1 Tbsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. salt ltsp. vanilla ltsp. cream l tsp. soft butter 11/2 c. flour In a medium bowl beat egg yolks and 2 whole eggs until thick and light. Beat in sugar and salt, add vanilla, cream and soft butter. Continue beating with electric mixer for about 5 minutes, With a wooden spoon beat in flour 1/4 cup at atime. When mixture is too thick to beat, work remaining flour in with your hands. Knead until elastic, about 10 minutes. Let rest for 10 minutes. Roll out as thin as possible, cut in strips 1 inch wide by 3 inches long. Cut slit in center and put ends through sides in opposite directions, Fry in deep oil until delicate brown. Olga Gatzke GINGER SPARKLES 3/4 c. butter or margarine l tsp. cinnamon lc. brown sugar ltsp. ginger l egg — 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/4 c. molasses 2tsp. soda 2c. flour Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and beat. Add molasses and hand mix once more. ‘To sifted flour add spices and soda. Blend well, then roll into walnut size balls, roll in sugar.
