LAPWORTH 1 cup shortening 2% cups flour 22 cup sugar 1 tsp baking powder 4 eggs 14 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. orange juice 1 cup seedless raisins 1, cup grated orange rind 1 cup currants Cream shortening, add sugar gradually. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each one. Add juice and rind then dry ingredients. Bake in a long loaf pan. NO BAKE CAKE By ESTHER M. LESK 1% lb. semi-sweet chocolate % lb. marshmallows 2 eggs 1 cup chopped walnuts or bra- 1 cup icingsugar zils Melt chocolate in double boiler. Beat eggs and icing sugar. Add marshmal- lows cut in quarters, and nuts. Add this to chocolate and stir well. Put in buttered cake pan and leave to set in refrigerator. Cut in squares when ready to serve. SCOTT 14 cup butter 4 cup raisins 1 cup brown sugar 1, cup chopped walnuts 2 eggs 4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. soda dissolved in 4 tsp. cinnamon 1, cup warm water 14 tsp. nutmeg 144 cup flour, sifted | Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and beat well. Flour raisins and nuts and add to flour sifted together with salt and spices. Combine with creamed mixture alternately with soda dissolved in water. Bake in patty pans at 375° F. for approximately 25 minutes. ORANGE CHIFFON CAKE By MRS. E. GOVIER 1 cup and 2 tbsp. cake flour Y% cup and 2 tbsp. water or 34 cup sugar orange juice and water 142 tsp. double acting baking combined powder 4 eggs 14 tsp. salt % tsp. vanilla 1 orange rind Y% tsp. cream of tartar 14 cup vegetable oil Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl, add orange rind and oil, together with water, 2 egg yolks and vanilla. Beat until creamy. In separate bowl, beat 4 egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff enough to cut with knife. Fold egg whites into first mixture gently, (do not stir). Bake in ungreased 9” tube % hour at 350°. POUND CAKE By MARY M. REID l1-cup shortening (crisco) 3 cups flour—all purpose 2 cups sugar 3 tsp. baking powder 4 eggs 1 cup milk Cream shortening, add sugar, and drop eggs one at a time. Beat thoroughly. Add sifted flour and baking powder alternately with milk. Bake half an hour in moderate oven (350 degrees).
