APPLE TURNOVERS — Anne Chudd Mix like for pie crust: 4 cups flour 1 Ib Tenderflake Lard 1 tsp salt Mix: 1 pkg yeast 1 tbsp sugar 1/2 cup warm water Let stand 5 minutes. Add 1/2 cup warm milk 2 eggs well beaten Mix all ingredients together and put in refrigerator overnight. Roll out. Cut into shapes with glass. Put 1 tsp apple pie filling in centre and roll in sugar. Bake at 375° for 15 minutes. DOUGHNUTS — Mrs. A. Kasupski 2 cups white sugar 1/8 cup oil 3/4 cup mashed potatoes 1 tsp nutmeg 3 eggs 3 tbsps baking powder 1 cup sour cream 6 cups flour 1 cup milk + 2 tsps vinegar 1 tsp soda Mix and roll out and cut with doughnut cutter. Fry in deep fat. KISSES — Mrs. A. Kasupski 4 egg yolks Pinch of baking powder 2 whole eggs 1 tbsp whiskey 1 tbsp sugar 1 cup flour 1/2 tsp salt Knead and let stand for 15 minutes. Then roll out dough fairly thin. Cut in 2 inch vertical strips and then in two inch horizontal strips. This gives you a two inch square. Slit centre of square and take 1 corner and pull through slit. Fry in deep fat until golden brown and ice with icing sugar. 10
