BUNS Mrs. H. Hood 1c. milk 1 tsp. salt 1/4 c. sugar 1 Tbsp. shortening Scald above, but do not let boil. Cool, add 1 well beaten egg, 1 pkg. Fleischmann's yeast dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water, 3c. flour or a little more. Mix well. Let rise, then shape and put into pans and let rise again. Takes about an hour in pans. Bake in hot oven. Brush with butter and sugar. For making buns that have the 3 sections, put 3 little balls of dough in each section of muffin tins. DO NOT HANDLE DOUGH TOO MUCH. REFRIGERATOR BUNS Mrs. June Thornton 1c. & 2 Thsp. hot water 1/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 package dry yeast 6 Tbsp. shortening (no dissolving type) 1 egg 3 1/2 to 4.c. flour Put first 4 ingredients in large bowl and stir until shortening dissolves. Add yeast. Beat egg and add to shortening mixture. Add 2c. flour and beat with a spoon, then slowly stir in the rest or enough to make dough easy to handle, not sticky. Grease top of dough and cover with damp towel and lid. Use at once or store 2 or 3 days. Dampen towel as it dries. Shape, let rise and bake at 400 degrees F. for 12 to 15 minutes. If baking the same day, do as for bread. CORN CAKES Mrs. Paquette 1 can cream corn Pinch salt & pepper 1 well beaten egg 1 Tbsp. melted butter 1 1/2 tsps. sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 c. flour Mix thoroughly and drop batter into a little fat in hot frying pan.
