The Orange Lodge was delegated to erect e welcome arci: at a conspicuous place in the town, and other work was | TENT-CATERPILLAR PLAGUE DAMAGES SUMAS ORCHARDS A plague of tent caterpillars is oc- casioning trouble in the orchards of Sumas district, hundreds of apple and other fruit trees haying been denuded of leaves by the insects. The caterpillars also show a preferance for willow leaves, of which there are plenty, but they do not miss any fruit leaves in their swarming movement, arborage in their line of travel presenting a winter- like barrenness. Many of the farmers are busy spray- ing arsenic of lead, and singeing with torches, but the insects are causing real damage, What Is A “Lawful” Fence Sumas Council made a grant of $200 towards the 1929 district fair at the June meeting.
