| Description / Synopsis | Description / Synopsis This article discusses the legal issues surrounding allowing Japanese troops to board Komagata Maru and subdue the South Asian passengers in Canadian waters. It also discusses the conflict between the passengers of the Komagata Maru and the owners of the vessel and Canadian immigration authorities. It also lays out the methods immigration authorities are using and suggesting be carried out in order to prevent the passengers of the Komagata Maru from being able to be heard in an appeal to the Supreme court over whether or not the immigration restrictions are constitutional. This includes delaying any rulings from the immigration board (to prevent appeals) and forcing the Komagata Maru to leave before the case can be heard. |
